The Song of My Father

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

‭‭Zephaniah‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I’m a firm believer that God will be very present when He is trying to communicate something. Over the course of a week, the Lord put this verse in front of me a total of three times before I actually listened to what He was saying.

First off, the Lord is ever present. He is constantly at our side, He is walking with us through every trial, He is carrying the weight of every burden. Even as I write this devotional “Song of My Father” by Urban Rescue is playing and the words go perfectly with this verse—

“In the middle of the night

I look up to the sky

I can hear You

Singing over me

Through the fire and the flood

I know that I am loved

I can hear You

Singing over me

I hear Your melody

I hear Your symphony

There's nothing louder than the song of my Father”

There is nothing louder than the song our Father sings over us. It speaks of the beauty of His creation, how we are His most precious creation because we bear His image. It speaks of the protection that He gives us. He is a refuge in the storm, a strong hold in the fight, a high tower to hide ourselves away, a secret place where we are in perfect communion with Father, Son, and Spirit— as it was in the garden.

This communion is something that God is constantly trying to remind us of. That the kingdom of heaven is here, it is at hand, He is present with us now and we can call upon His power, protection, love, and comfort at all times. His spirit dwells inside of us, our bodies are His temple and home. And He is GLAD! He loves to make His home in our hearts! All He wants from us is for our hearts to belong to Him so that our faith is an outpouring of everything He is.

So no matter what kind of season you’re living through right now, the Lord wants to quiet you in His love. Where perfect peace makes you whole, where joy is your strength, and where hope abounds triumphantly in your hearts.

Let this be your prayer today:

Father God, may your song be louder than any doubt, fear, shame, or obstacle the enemy or my flesh throws my way. May the flaming darts of the enemy be quenched by your spirit being in my midst, and may I walk triumphantly in your victory that was won on the cross by Christ Jesus. Indwell in my heart and help me to see the beauty in myself and others as your image bearers. Help me to commune with you daily and seek you first in all aspects of my life. Thank you for your closeness lord, amen.
