There's Revival in the Refuge
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. The Lord is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed. Oh, save your people and bless your heritage! Be their shepherd and carry them forever.”
Psalms 28:7-9 ESV
Church, there has been one thing constantly on my mind in the last few weeks through everything this world is going through. It’s not fear. It’s not confusion. It’s not even chaos. My heart is set on revival! Revival of the church, in the movement of it’s people. Revival of the Holy Spirit coming down like a huge gust of wind as in the days of Acts. Revival of our hearts being of one accord, working together for the sake of the gospel.
The Lord is able to shield us from any hurt, heartache, illness, and trouble—If we only put our trust in Him and His ways! When we come to God with a grateful heart He rejoices over us! Not only is He our song, but He also sings over us with loud singing, even (Zeph 3:17). He is our strength through the times when we think we cannot persevere. The world will tell you that He will not give you more than you can handle, but that’s wrong. He’ll give you more than you can handle because He wants to show you that He’s the only one who can handle the chaos.
He is a refuge to His anointed. That means He is a safe place, a shelter, a peaceful protection for us. His anointed. And anointed simply means chosen. He chose us to be set apart from the world to be His ”…chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of His own possession…(1 Pet 2:9).” To cherish, treasure, to bless, and to continue His kingdom here on the Earth until Jesus returns in glory.
Look to Jesus, who is our Great Shepard. He leaves the 99 to find the one, who He rejoices over finding even more than He rejoices over the 99 who stayed (Matt 18:12-13). He will pick us up when we fall, He will guide us with His rod and comfort us with His staff (Ps 23:4). He leads us on the correct path that we should go and makes that path straight when we acknowledge Him in all that we do (Pro 3:6).
Church, I have sprinkled in a lot of truths throughout this writing because I want you to know that you can go to the scriptures for all of your needs. Christ is the living word of God, that means Christ is active in the scriptures and wants to speak to you directly! He loves you, He wants to be your rock, your shelter, your refuge. He wants to be the one you turn to through any and all seasons. Whether in drought or rain. Whether in abundance or lack. Truly we lack nothing when our trust is in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Revival starts when we lean into His truths, speak them over ourselves and our brothers and sisters, and share the goodness that has set us free. So prepare yourselves, take on the whole armor of God so that you will be ready when God calls us to action. Because He will call us into action. And as Pastor Greg Lunsford has said on multiple occasions, “When the King calls, you come.”
Let this be your prayer today:
Holy Spirit, fall on us, on our hearts, and unify us all in Christ our Savior. May we set our eyes on the kingdom of heaven that is at hand. May we pray bold prayers in your power so that Your will would be done here on the Earth as it is in Heaven. Breath Your fire into us so that we would be purified for when You call us to action. Just like You did for Isaiah, use Your hot coal to burn off any impurity upon our lips so that we would come before You proclaiming, “Here I am, Lord, send me”. Let that be our hearts cry, to be sent, to be filled with Your fire, and to proclaim Your good news to any and everyone with ears to hear and eyes to see. Reveal to us who, where, when, and how Your revival will start, Lord. We wait expectantly, and we see You moving. Amen.
